Aplicación de un sistema de inmersión al microscopio estereoscópico preparado para la observación por reflexión del carbón
[EN] After making evident the importance of the immersion. in the microscopic study of the coal by reflection, the author pointes out the principles on which this technique is based, the difficulties of its application and the methods in use to avoid them. A method, that allows the use of immersion when. working with a stereoscopic microscope of preparation. arranged for the observation by reflection, is described as based on the placing upon the polished surface, and very closed to it, of a very thin plate of glass. perpendicularly to the optical axis, and between this. plate and the coal surface a drop of the immersion liquid (water, glycerine, or oil). The polished surface of the coal sample has to be• fixed to keep a convenient angle of inclination. The author has been using this method over a. number of coals at the Instituto Nacional del Carbon's. laboratories, obtaining very good photographs some of which are reproduced.
