Description of action

The Greenland Livestock Research Station (GLRS) has been involved in the genetic improvement of the Barbados Blackbelly Sheep (BBB) since 1984. It currently maintains a flock of 300 purebred BBB ewes is the main distributor of BBB genetics across Barbados. With a high demand for BBB genetics globally, GLRS is well placed to collect, store and process BBB semen for distribution locally and internationally at minimal risk to animals at a much reduced cost. Additionally, given the high cost of commercial feed, it is imperative that for the sustainability of the station, alternative feed sources, without compromising on the nutritive elements.
