Annual report 1942-1943

The formation of an institute of tropical agriculture has been under consideration by the leaders in agriculture in this hemisphere for several decade. It has been discussed from time to tiem as far back as the first Inter-American conference on Agriculture held in Washington in 1930. The movement received considerable ímpetus when Vice President henry Wallace, then Secretary of Agriculture of the United States, presented a paper at the eighth scientific congress held in Washington in 1940 advocating the formation of such an Institute.
