Strengthening Integrated Agrifood Research and Innovation Systems Around the World - GCP/GLO/047/EC
Agrifood systems (AFS) have an impact upon most aspects of the SDGs, yet agrifood research and innovation systems have limited and usually isolated success in affecting the livelihoods of men and women in resource-poor rural communities and of smallholder farmers around the world. With population, hunger and malnutrition all increasing, together with persistent inequality and unemployment, these limitations are increasingly becoming a cause for concern. The Global Forum for Agricultural Research and Innovation (GFAR) is a global platform of and for approximately 1 000 institutional members from 13 constituencies that aims to achieve an integrated multistakeholder approach to agrifood research and innovation. The objective of the project was to mobilize, develop and mentor innovative and inclusive multistakeholder approaches to support members in their efforts to devise and implement integrated and improved science-based solutions to shared challenges, while managing the effects of climate change, bringing solutions to scale and contributing to the achievement of the SDGs.
