Cameroon: Project Highlights - OSRO/CMR/200/JPN
The Government of Japan contributed USD 226 000 to FAO's project entiteld "Supporting resilient food security and protection-sensitive livelihoods strategies in Far North Cameroon". The project's objective was to improve food security, early recovery and resilience through protection-sensitive strategies among vulnerable internally displaced people, refugees, returnees and host communities. FAO provided seeds kits, small ruminants, above-ground fish production units, and established boreholes powered by solar systems to enable them to meet their immediate food needs. Project participants produced several tonnes of vegetables, fresh fish and improved their income and access to water, enabling them to savegaurd their livelihoods and improve their food security.
