Report of the twenty-third session of the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission (APFC)

This publication reports the proceedings of the twenty-third session of the Asia-Pacific Forestry Commission held in Thimphu, Bhutan from 9 to 11 June 2010. The Committee considered the state of forestry in the region including regional trends. An in-session seminar was held on monitoring and assessment mechanisms and forward-looking analysis of issues, challenges and opportunities affecting forests and forestry. The Commission examined issues related to enhancing biodiversity conservation and i mproving forest law enforcement and governance in the region. The document provides a summary of the recommendations made by the Commission session, as well as regional issues identified by the Commission for the attention of the FAO Committee on Forestry.
