Nigeria: Projecct Highlights - OSRO/NIR/200/GER
The Federal Government of Germany contributed USD 5 million to FAO's project entitled "Emergency food security and livelihood assistance to conflict-affected populations in northeastern Nigeria". The project's main objective was to improve food security, nutrition and protection among vulnerable, conflict-affected internally displaced people (IDPs), returnees and host communities in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states. A wide range of activities was implemented including the distribution of fresh food vouchers, seed and tools kits and poultry and small ruminants. Thanks to the implementation of this project, households were able to produce staple food and cover their food needs to up to six months, generate income and improve their livelihoods.
