Standard operating procedures for operating, maintenance and storage of desert locust sprayers
The desert locust is one of the most dangerous insect pests worldwide, causing major damage to agricultural crops and natural pastures. Control operations rely on air and ground spraying of different compounds as the main technique to contain desert locusts. The ULVA+ is a handheld insecticide sprayer used for performing ground control against locusts and grasshoppers. This ultra low volume (ULV) sprayer allows ground teams to perform ground control operations using the minimum amount of pesticide, reducing potential environmental and human health risks posed by pesticides. This standard operating procedure (SOP) guide aims to contribute to the efficiency, efficacy and promotion of best practices whilst using and maintaining the sprayers.
