One pineapple in two reaches the international market. Whether fresh (20%) or as juice or canned fruit (80%), more than 7 million tonnes are imported every year. These markets are led by Asia for processed products and Central and South America and Africa for fresh fruits. The fresh pineapple sector is booming as it has succeeded in making the most of the fruit by playing on varietal segmentation and boosting 1 consumption.
