Les semences d'arachide en milieu paysannal africain : éléments pour une organisation de la filière

The availability of good quality groundnut seed in requested quantities is a major constraint for crop development, especially so under smallholding conditions. Seed shortage is prevalent in West Africa and seed quality is poor. The low financial return of the crop imposes a genealogical multiplication system where the involvement of the institutional sector is limited to the first generations and to quality control, whereas the former himself carries out the bulk of seed production, with the progressive and controlled participation of local traders.
