Viabilidade da agricultura familiar nordestina e globalizacao : mitos e desafios

This article deals with the feasibitity and the sustainability of Brazilian family farming systems. In the first part, the concepts of the economic and social feasibility of family farming are introduced. The debate on sustainable development and family agriculture is replaced in the context of economic global evolution and of the specifications of Brazilian public policy on the matter of family farming. Based on some examples in the Northeast region, the second part discusses local politics of sustainable development challenge. As well as this analyses the main obstacles for the realising of the recommendations, object of the present developmental discourses; some clues and alternatives are identified.
