Impact des politiques économiques sur les collectivités locales : le cas de l'impact de la dévaluation du franc CFA dans deux sous-préfectures du Nord Bénin

One purpose of the current decentralisation in Benin is the reorganisation of the administrative regional structure down to two levels , the government and the counties (formerly addressed as "sous- préfectures" , now "communes"). These counties will have financial autonomy. It is important to realise that their financial capacity depend on that of the local population which is affected by different macro- economic and sectoral policy decisions. This paper aims at analysing the impact of the CFA devaluation in Nord Benin. The analysis is based on the results of a survey comprising 60 households in two villages representing two counties. Using qualitative and quantitative analysis, the results show that economic policies have distinct effects on populations in different areas. Thus specific measures is necessary for disadvantaged population groups in the context of decentralisation.
