The profile of livestock in smallholders farms in Paragominas-Para

Based on a survey covering 89 smallholder farms in the amazon agriculture frontier region of Paragominas-Pa, it was realised a diagnostic of the major production systems as the livestock profile. The authors think that the strong incraesing in bovine husbandry rather than the others components of the productionsystem, annual and perennial crops, is linked, first, to the adaptability to soil and clime conditions since great part of the areas are deforested, and second, to the geographic and institutional isolation of the majority of the rural communities, justifying the without-land movement enlargement in Paragominas.
