Control of termites and black ants damaging rubber plantations in Africa

Damages caused to the rubber plantations by different species of termites and black ants are described. The main behaviour, biological and ecological characteristics are mentionned. The tests of insecticides against these pests have demonstrated the high efficiency of: Firponil, Chlorpyriphos-ethyl, Carbaryl, Deltamethrine. The remarkable and long-lasting effect of Fipornil is attibuted to a particular mode of action of this new family of insecticides.
