CIMMYT in Africa

CIMMYT has worked for four decades with farmers, research and extension partners, non-governmental organizations, private companies, and policymakers in eastern and southern Africa to improve human wellbeing and food security through applied science. Efforts now focus on climate-resilient, nutrient-enhanced, and high-yielding varieties of maize, wheat, and small-grain crops (sorghum, millet, groundnut, pigeon pea, and chickpea), along with diverse, climate-smart and productive farming systems and food value chains for those crops.
