A Report on Regional Representation in the CGIAR

Review of the effectiveness of regional representatives in disseminating information about the CGIAR within their regions, and in representing the views and needs of their regions within the CGIAR. The review was prepared by a CGIAR Secretariat working group assigned to evaluate the Group's implementation of the improvements prescribed by the report 'Regional Representation to the CGIAR,' which was endorsed at the CGIAR meeting in May 1988.The report recommended elimination of representation from the FAO European region, division of the developing world into eight sub regions each to be represented separately, attendance of regional representatives at annual meetings of national agricultural research directors, and creation of a CGIAR task force to discuss implementation with NARS in each region.Annexes provide a legislative history of the issue in the CGIAR, and a listing of regional agricultural research organizations.Agenda document, CGIAR Mid Term Meeting, May 1992.
