1987/88 CGIAR Annual Report
Annual report of the CGIAR, covering financial information for 1987 and other matters through mid 1988. The foreword is by Chairman W. David Hopper. The first chapter reviews the year's events, and discusses sustainability, the future role of nonassociated centers, biotechnology, and the role of women in agricultural development, as well as center directors' meetings and external reviews of IRRI and ILCA.There is a chapter on agricultural development and the environment by Leslie D. Swindale, one on TAC and sustainable agricultural production by Michelle Hibler, and one on biological control of pests in Africa by Edward Glass. Further chapters address the strategic management of agricultural resources through agronomy, and the impact of CGIAR research. The final chapter describes the Group's financial situation in 1987. Annexes describe major CGIAR crops and activities, CGIAR organization, donor contributions to center programs for 1972-1987, center expenditures since 1971, and the regional origins of internationally-recruited staff and boards.
