Sharing of Responsibilities Among CGIAR Centers

TAC paper on the division of responsibility among IARCs, inter-center collaboration and redefinition of mandates in situations of overlapping responsibilities. The paper discusses the underlying principles used in defining center mandates, and considers the sharing of responsibilities in the light of those principles. In case of a conflict or overlap between centers, TAC will first encourage the centers concerned to find a mutually agreed way out of the problem. Should that fail, there is a proposed procedure by which IARCs can consult TAC for recommendations on how to proceed. This paper was discussed at TAC 43, 44, 45 and approved at 46. It was considered by the CGIAR at International Centers Week, October-November 1988.
