Report of the TAC Panel on Natural Resources Conservation and Management Research, a part of the process of considering what research in this field should be supported by the CGIAR, and whether support should be given to ICRAF, IBSRAM, IFDC, and IIMI as CGIAR centers.The panel considered ICRAF separately. It recommended CGIAR adoption of ICRAF, with its mandate extended to include other aspects of forestry research being brought within the CGIAR mandate. The panel recommended against support to IBSRAM and IFDC. A favorable recommendation on IIMI, because irrigation required a multidisciplinary approach with a certain mix of disciplines, contained caveats concerning a focus on poverty alleviation, emphasis on thematic research, and limitation of the proportion of effort spent on technical advice.Agenda document, TAC 51 and 52.
