Several species of fungi belonging to 20 genera were isolated from bean seeds obtained from small farmers in the states of Huila, Valle del Cauca, Antioquia and Narino (Colombia). Seeds from Huila had a higher percentage of fungi and germination in vitro was lower than for seeds from the other states. The correlation coefficient between the percentage of isolated fungi and the germination in vitro of the different seed lots was 0.88. (AS)
