Thirty-four fungicides were applied to soil at the time the blast susceptible Fanny rice variety was planted in 1 m(2) plots, replicated twice. On the basis of blast incidence and spike development the most effective fungicides were Benlate, NF.44, Duter, Brestan and Desmosan
