Estrategias para el mejoramiento de la produccion de habichuelas en CIAT para la roya, mancha angular, ascochyta y mustia

Damage caused to snap bean by rust, angular leaf spot, Ascochyta, and web blight, is briefly described. Results of the evaluations carried out by CIAT with the germplasm bank are also described along with the strategies for improvement developed in the search for cv. resistant to these diseases. Data are included on the origin, plant habit, and level of resistance of some snap bean materials from the germplasm bank. Information on the growth habit, seed color, and BCMV-resistance of the snap bean lines improved for rust is also presented, and for the bush and climbing materials from VEF 86 resistant to angular leaf spot and Ascochyta.
