Small ruminant production under pressure: The example of goats in southeast Nigeria

Animal performance was evaluated in various management systems in south-east Nigeria. Systems examined included a free-roaming and movement-restricted production system; and farmers' responses to changed husbandry practices. Discussions and data on flock dynamics and male to female ratio; reproductive performance; growth rate; mortality; and farmers management and breeding strategy included.
