The meeting agreed that Africa should not be looking to anyone outside the region to solve its problems but focus on building capacity to address the S&T issues recognizing that Africa is made up of sovereign states. Delegates further stressed that Africa needs to use its resources more efficiently. <http://knowledge.cta.int/index.php/article/articleview/165> Visit photo gallery. We had previously reported that a significant outcome of the Caribbean regional meeting in April, 2004 was the decision taken by delegates to update its draft regional S&T policy. This exercise has been completed and the revised draft Science, Technology and Innovation - Framework for the Caribbean should be presented to the Caribbean Ministers of Science and Technology when they meet in 2005.
