Bridging the digital divide, Mobile News, Alcatel, 2001 ICTs are more than ever at the heart of our cultural, social and economic evolution. Innovative solutions are being implemented everyday to meet the urgent needs of emerging countries. As part of its Bridging the Digital Divide programme, Alcatel is involved in a series of initiatives at both network infrastructure and user application levels. With the help and involvement of local partners, such initiatives take into account the needs and characteristics of developing countries in order to experiment and set up a self-sustainable ICT-based development model.
