Coffee
The crisis for coffee-dependent ACP countries as prices drop to a 30-year low, well below the cost of production, has led to crisis meetings in the ICO and the ACP-EU JPA. With the demise of the STABEX scheme, attention is focussed on persuading the EC to release EDF funds urgently. A long-term solution, however, cannot come solely from diversification.
