New agribusiness monitoring site is launched

A new web site has been established by the Minneapolis-based Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy focussing on the practices of agribusiness firms including their role in the market place and political arena. The site draws information from new reports, Security and Exchange Commission filings, company reports, advocacy groups and legal documents. Its focus is on the role that agribusiness plays in the areas of consumer prices, environmental protection, labour rights, market concentration and political influence. The target groups for the site are reporters, researchers and advocacy organisations. The site consists of: a news ticker; news features; a periodic bulletin of what is new on the site; company profiles. Comment: While the focus is primarily on US corporations the global operation of these companies means that they also play a role in influencing ACP-EU relations. The site as it develops could thus prove a valuable source of basic data for ACP actors.
