Building sales on sand ?
In the coastal town of Thiaroye, near Dakar, Senegal, concrete slabs have been installed for fishers to unload and sell their fish, instead of on the beach. The area has running water and drains. Fish processing plants come directly to the area to take their loads. But local women vendors feel that they lose out. So on the way to market they stop by the beach, pick up some sand and sprinkle it over the fish on the slabs. Just so that customers will think that the fish has come straight from the beach and is sure to be fresh.
