Exchange rates wreck
The monetary depreciation in Asia is causing problems for the Senegalese tuna fish industry. Tuna from Thailand is now 10% cheaper on European markets than Senegalese tuna. In October 1998, three Senegalese fish canneries announced their closure on losing their traditional markets
