Rural radio goes to town

That old favourite of thousands of rural radio stations, the Developing Countries Farming Radio Network, recently expanded its coverage to urban agriculture and animal breeding. Now the DCFRN programmes scripts, made available free of charge to local stations worldwide, can be heard by millions of city dwellers, with such items as growing vegetables in pots, raising guinea pigs in cages and growing herbs on rooftops. All serious stuff for those townies for whom urban agriculture is key to food security and income generation. DCFRN estimate that their urban audience is already 25 million people.
