Good news about Mozambique s agriculture
Above-average grain harvests throughout most of Mozambique have boosted household grain reserves. Food access at household levels has improved due to good harvests of maize, sorghum, millet, rice, groundnuts, beans, and cassava, as well as favourable pasture conditions. Most districts of the central region report that livestock restocking numbers are approaching pre-independence levels. Anecdotal reports, from southern Tete province and northern Manica province, of farmers selling goats in numbers comparable to those during the war reflect current animal surpluses rather than rising cereal needs.
