FAO database on tropical feeds
A book produced by FAO in 1981 but now out of print, entitled Tropical feeds, has been converted into a simple computerized database. Operating on MSDOS the programme is fast and easy to operate even by people unfamiliar with computers. The programme and the database together occupy 920K. The material from the book is a unique collection of data on about 500 tropical feeds. It describes the feeds in detail and includes information on agronomy, animal preferences, anti-nutritional factors and processing differences. It also provides information on the practical use of different feed materials, data on proximate analysis and nutritive value, and references. The database is currently available in English only, but French and Spanish versions will be available in the future. FAO Via delle Terme di Caracalla 00100 Rome ITALY
