CTA - GTZ - BMZ series on rural development

CTA is co-publishing a series of handbooks on rural development with Deutsche Gesellschaft fr Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation (BMZ) which will draw on their common fund of expertise and make the results as widely available as possible. The first two volumes, both on agricultural extension, first appeared as textbooks in 1981. Now they have been reissued in a fully revised form, taking into account the progress and knowledge gained in the intervening years. The guiding theme of the volumes is that extension practices can be learned and not merely acquired. They cover not only the technical and organizational skills which the extension adviser needs, but also cultural and religious factors, social systems and historical developments. and methodologies. Volume 1 covers the methodology and theory of agricultural extension, while volume 2 contains practical examples and background material.
