Mechanization network for Africa

The Euro-African Association of Agricultural Mechanization Centres is now working on ways to improve information exchange between its different members. Two projects are currently under way: the publication of a directory of manufacturers of agricultural equipment destined for use in tropical countries and another directory on European and African centres involved in agricultural and food technologies in such countries. Research themes on the development and evaluation of prototypes have also been defined. They deal with a system of harvesting cotton by using compressed air. soil working. and water conservation in semi-arid areas. Particular attention is focused on equipment for rice plantations, including the development in the field of new harvesting and processing technologies.
