Estudio de la antracnosis en Guanábana (Annona muricata L.). I. Efecto en la morfología de las hojas

Leaves of Annona muricata L. (soursop) were inoculated with a suspension of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides Penz, conidia under greenhouse conditions. Samples were taken at different time intervals and prepared for light and electron microscopy observation. Most of the spore germination occurred between 24 and 36 hours after inoculation. Penetration through stomata was not observed. Appressoria started to develop infective hypha 24 hours later, without penetration of the cytoplasm After 60 hours, the palisade and spongy parenchyma were damaged. Four or five days later, the cell wall's in contact with appressoria and mycelia were destroyed At the end of Sifty days, the leaves were completely damaged It is suggested that the fungus degrades the cuticle and the epidermal cell walls enzymatically.
