Montego Bay Bus Fleet Electrification Business Case

This report assesses the feasibility of a scalable and replicable project to replace Montego Bay Metros (MBM) aging fleet of diesel buses with electric buses powered by 100 percent renewable energy. It identifies battery electric buses charged with electricity from floating solar PV as the best option for achieving that goal; shows that, when the social cost of carbon is included, this is least cost option compared with the cost of replacing MBMs fleet with new diesel buses and with electric buses powered by Jamaicas electricity grid; and provides advice on what support is required to make this trailblazing project a reality.
