Comparative analysis and technical recommendations among minifundistas production processes in the rural development project of eastern Cundinamarca, Colombia

The Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) created a rural develop-ment project in eastern Cundinamarca In 1971. Since this time a set of instructions has been developed which permits the deduction of technical recommendations for corn, potato and those crops which are combined with them. The objective of this study was to compare the present production processes used by the miniFundistas to the technological package developed from the set of technical instructions. Data was collected in 1972 through personal interviews from 255 farmers growing potato-peas, corn-beans, lettuce, and beets, throughout three zones in which the study area was subdivided.
