New records of marine algae from Vietnam

The examination of over one thousand specimens of marine algae obtained during several surveys from 1981 to 1999 by the Department of Marine Botany, Institute of Oceanography at Nhatrang, has identified 10 species which are new records of the algal flora of Vietnam. They are: Phormidium molle Gom., Claudea batanensis Tanaka, Acrochaetium sargassicola Boerg., Scinaia boergesenii Tseng, Chondria armata (Kuetz.) Okam., Amphiroa beauvoisii Lamx., Rhodogorgon carriebowensis Norris & Bucher, Sargassum bulbiferum Yosh., Tydemania expeditionis W.v. Bosse and Caulerpa crassifolia (C. Ag.) J. Ag. Among them 4 genera have been reported for the first time in Vietnam: Claudea Lamx., Scinaia Bivona- Bernaldi, Rhodogorgon Norris & Bucher (Rhodophyta) and Tydemania W.v. Bosse (Chlorophyta). This paper is aimed to describe these species.
