Feeding of young fish in the Kegum water reservoir
Data on feeding of roach (Rutilus rutilus L.), perch (Perca fluviatilis L.), bream (Abramis brama L.), bleak (Alburnus alburnus L.) and white bream (Blicca bjoerkna L.) fry collected in 1968-1970 are discussed. The fry of these species live on zooplankton. The abundance of inferior fish is relatively high in the Kegum reservoir (Latvia). The nursery ground of all species is the same and the abundance of zooplankton is comparatively moderate. Therefore it can be assumed that inferior fish exert negative impact on the valuable species (bream) and their numbers should be decreased.
