Investigation of the herring growth rate

General quantitative dependence of variations in herring Clupea harengus membras growth rate in the Northeastern Baltic on the main environmental conditions - the temperature regime and food availability - are considered. The analysis is based on the material sampled from herring trawl catches in the winter-spring season in 1957-1964. It is assumed that the results obtained by the correlation and regression analyses could be exploited in the future for calculations of the possible herring catches by seasons, areas, gear types and assortment, incl. for the calculation of allowable catches, commercial size limits etc.
