Nutrient composition of three commercially important fishes in Lake Kainji, Nigeria

The proximate composition, mineral content and amino acid profile of Synodontis membraneceous, Oreochromis niloticus and Pellonula afzeluisi was conducted. Results showed that P. afzeluisi had the highest crude protein content (73.00%) amino acid and mineral content. This was followed by O. niloticus (57.87%) and S. membraneceous (54.56%). Organoleptic analysis however showed that O. niloticus had significant overall acceptability, taste and aroma.
