Relación entre la temperatura superfiical del mar del Océano Pacífico Oriental y las precipitaciones en la costa del Ecuador

This paper establishes the existing relation between the field of the sea surface temperature and his anomalies with accumulated monthly of rainfall in each of the localities (total 7) of the coast of the Ecuador. For the effect there is in use information of the sea superficial temperature from the National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP Climate Modeling Branch), and accumulated monthly of rain of the database of the Inocar during the period from 1981 to 2006, corresponding to the stations of the San Lorenzo, Esmeraldas, Manta, La Libertad, Guayaqui,. Puná and Pto. Bolívar. They fin a good coefficient of direct correlation between the sea surface temperature and the rain (from 0.5 to 0.85), nevertheless is ibserved that not the whole rain on the Ecuadorian coast is explained by the sea temperature, existing other atmospheric processes that in some moments are those who exercise major influence in the generation of the rains and in other cases they modulate the sign of the humid station in the Ecuadorian littoral.
