Empleo de subproductos de la caña de azúcar para la alimentación del camarón blanco del Caribe

Results of the inclusion of GICABU and torula yeast in the diet for the Caribbean white shrimp (Litopenaeus schmitti) juveniles and cachaza oil in postlarvae diet are presented. Three completely randomised experimental designs were carried out to evaluate practical and semipurified diets, in juveniles and postlarvae respectively, with different by-products inclusion levels. Food was accepted and consumed in all the experiments. Shrimps reached a significantly higher growth (P<0.05) when torula yeast was included at 15, 20 and 25 % in diet, thus demonstrating the feasibility of the partial fish meal substitution. No significant differences were found (P>0.05) when GICABU was included up to 10 % in juvenile diet. Total replacement of sunflower oil by cachaza oil is possible in postlarvae diets.
