Geomorphological and geophysical studies on the bottom of the eastern part of the Sea of Japan.
The Present thesis treats of the geomorphological study of the Sea of Japan with dividing the region in accordance with its submarine topographic features on the basis of the bathymetric charts on a scale of 1/3, 000, 000, which have been prepared as an aggregation of all available bathymetric data held by the Hydrographic Department of Japan as of 1965. Further, by reduction and analysis of data obtained from geomorphological and geophysical surveys simultaneously conducted in 1966 and 1967 along and off the eastern coast of the Sea of Japan, an elucidation is made to the topography and the geological structure of the region, with an eventual object of obtaining a means to make clear the geomorphology and geological structure of the whole Sea of Japan.
