European perch (Perca fluviatilis) fecundity from the Veselovsk Reservoir

Based on the conducted long-term studies, the data on fecundity of the European perch females in the Veselovsk Reservoir (Rostov Region) have been analyzed. Relevance of this research is contingent on the fact that commercial importance of the European perch is increasing in recent years; the other important point is that formation of the ichthyocoenosis structure of the reservoir is influenced significantly by the presence of carnivorous fish species, and their abundance is defined by many factors, including their fecundity. Analysis of fecundity of the European perch in the Veselovsk Reservoir is presented for 2015–2018. Individual fecundity of females makes up 39.0±2.20 thousand eggs, on average, and is dependent on their body weight and length. At present, relative fecundity of the perch in the Veselovsk Reservoir, on average, is 151.2±5.32 ths eggs/kg. Population fecundity of the perch in the investigated area in 2017 equaled 5.4 billion eggs.
