Development and usage examples of tsunami information visualization tools.
JHOD has been publishing a series of tsunami hazard maps, named “Tsunami Information Maps,” aiming at mariners and port authorities to mitigate tsunami disaster in harbors. A Tsunami Information Map is created using GIS software to represent the results of tsunami simulation for given seismic fault models and bathymetric data. To meet the demands of increasing and diversifying users, the authors have developed new visualizing tools for the simulation results; the tools run in web browsers and can customize the representation of the tsunami information upon the users’ requests. This paper describes the function of the tools and some examples of the visualized tsunami information.
