The role of benthic cysts in the biocenosis of hypersaline bodies of water

In 2018, the abundance and biomass of Artemia cysts were monitored in 35 hypersaline water bodies of Russia (in Crimea and Western Siberia), and the results are presented. The fraction of benthic cysts in total stocks is shown to be considerable, and conclusion is made that these cysts will define the formation of abundance of the first generation in the following harvesting season.
