Подход к оценке нерестового запаса балтийского шпрота по количественному учету икры

Hensen and Apstein's method was used for the first time for determination of sprat spawning stock in the Baltic Sea in subdivisions 25, 26, 28, 29 and 32. Absolute eggs abundance in these subdivisions was determined according to the results of monthly ichthyoplankton surveys carried out in 1969, 1972, 1975, 1977, 1982. Sprat spawning stock for these years was determined according to total eggs abundance, female’s fecundity in the spawning stock for each year and sex ratio. Since 1972 to 1982 sprat eggs abundance decreased from 543,561 X 109 to 190,472 X 109 individuals, the spawning stock decreased accordingly from 1,063,720 to 367,372 tons. This method of sprat spawning stock estimation according to quantitative calculation of eggs does not depend on fishery results and may be used in the Baltic.
