Using brine shimp (Artemia Urmiana) as a carier for Antibiotic Oxolinic Acid and determination of accumulation drug in growth stages

- A promising new method for the successful prevention andtreatment of bacterial diseases in fish and shrimp is theadministration of live food arganisms incorporated withtherapeutic agents by the technique of bioencapsulation . - The aims of this study was determination of the accumulationrate of antibacterial drugs oxolinic acid in nauplii and adultbrine shrimp , Artemia urmiana. - Artemia nauplii (were hatched out of urmia lake cysts) andadult Artemia (preyed of urmia lake )were incubated in theantibiotic / seawater suspension with dosages of 25, 50, 75 and100 mg/l of oxolinic , suspend for uptake in intervals of 2,4,6and 8h . in the presence of aeration and light. Each dosage andtime period treatment were made in triplicate. After enrichmentperiods the concentration of oxolinic acid per sample wasdetermined by high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). - the results showed that the effect of enrichment tim and drugdosages of the Antibiotic residue in the nauplii and abultArtemia were significant (p‹ 0.05 , p<0.001). - the results of the bioencapsulation tests indicated the ranges ofaccumulation rate from 0 to 50 ug/g.w.w for nauplii and 0 to260 ug/g.w.w for adult artemia.
