Tipificación de las prácticas pesqueras de la flota de arrastre de fondo que operó en el Mar Argentino y Zona Común de Pesca Argentino-Uruguaya (34° S-41° S) durante los años 2008 a 2010.

The fishing practices developed by the Argentine bottom trawl fleet during the 2008-2010 period in the area comprised between 34° S and 41° S were analyzed using multivariate techniques applying the ômétierö concept to identify groups of similar operations on the coastal demersal assemblage. ôMétiersö were characterized according to the trip typology or landing profile, the fleet stratum, the season and fishing area. In zones of the Coastal Ecosystem, in the six to eight ômétiersö performed, operations were directed to different species and comprised fleet strata below 25 m length. In three of them the activity concentrated on a target species in specific areas and seasons. In the remaining ones the multispecies operations developed included teleosts and chondrichthyans, with preference for certain areas and seasons. The results, consistent with the available knowledge on exploitation of individual species, are considered potentially useful to define new operational management units and improve the resources abundance indexes.
